WHAT OUR CORPS MEMBERS ARE SAYING

“It's a tremendously rewarding experience. And not only with the children, but what I've learned.

"I've really grown. I feel like I've gotten a little bit more confidence about asking people for hel

It’s also, you know, it's self serving, and it keeps my brain moving and rocking and rolling and so forth, which is a good thing. You feel…relevant, helpful. And at three o'clock today, I'm off and I can't wait, which is the most wonderful thing. Lunch is great, but going into this Montessori classroom, to me, is what it's all about.”

r...It's very, very supportive. Lisa has always been there for me, and I don't know how...but she has gotten the best education for us, the best people to teach us. And just really proud to be a part of something like this. It's gonna make a difference. I think it is.”

 - Barb Short, VBA & Encore Sub

"I joined because when I had my own grandchildren (who are now five months and almost three),

"I joined the service corps is that, obviously I'm retired, and I have time to lend to the project.

"I joined the service corps is that, obviously I'm retired, and I have time to lend to the project.

I really remembered the joy, the incredible joy of them experiencing life, and their openness, and I was like, I just need more of that. I want to be around that. I worked with high school kids and I adored their joy also so much, but now I feel like it's time for me to go to the other end of the spectrum and learn as much as I can about those ages...I just enjoy playing with those children and learning with them and helping them learn and discover the world. I really can't wait-- I'm really excited!"

- Martha W.

I think that it is an area that needs a great deal of attention, and obviously there are personnel shortages, so if I can help in that way, I am more than willing to do that."

- Mike V. Meter, Encore Sub
