ECSC leaves it up to the school to decide where they might be the best fit. All our volunteers have completed 19 hours of ECSC coursework:
They have accounts in the PDIS system with a completed certificate in child abuse reporting, as required. Volunteers do not meet Early Teacher Qualifications. Volunteers who are not equally qualified or successfully complete background checks must be supervised and given instruction under the center's policies and procedures. ECSC hopes by providing classroom support in the form of a volunteer, Lead teachers will have the opportunity to work one on one with children, catch up on paperwork or just have some space to observe their classroom.
We strongly believe that a relationships with older adult volunteers is beneficial for both the child in the classroom and the ECSC Volunteer. Intergenerational interactions are a powerful and positive connection to the human experience.
